The cornerstone of our society was laid not on Philippine soil, but in the vibrant, aspirational landscape of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In 2012, Professor Mariano Roque Senga, alongside a dedicated cohort of Construction Project Management students from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) Open University program, identified a profound need. They were driven by a collective ambition to elevate the standing, competence, and global competitiveness of the Filipino project professional. From this shared commitment, a pioneering initiative was born. What started as an academic endeavor transformed into a visionary mission: to create a national beacon for project management standards, ethics, and community.
A Legacy Cemented by Global Recognition
This pioneering spirit culminated in a landmark achievement that forever altered the Philippine project management landscape. In 2015, the Philippine Society for Project and Program Management (PSPPM) was formally accepted by the International Project Management Association (IPMA) Council of Delegates in Panama. This historic declaration was more than a milestone; it was an affirmation. It established PSPPM—now operating as IPMA Philippines—as the only and official member association of IPMA in the country. This pivotal moment integrated the Filipino project management community into the world’s premier global network, granting our professionals direct access to international certifications, best practices, and a community of peers across over 70 nations. Our legacy of recognition was officially sealed on the global stage.
